A Soft Inquiry, or Soft Pull, is a term used to refer to an inquiry into an applicant’s credit history that does not adversely affect the credit score. Leveraging a single-bureau, Soft-Inquiry credit pull with a FICO score, mortgage bankers and lenders can now easily perform an initial non-decisionable credit check without negatively impacting a consumer’s credit score. This helps consumers to better understand their credit standing and the loan products and services for which they may qualify for.

There are two ways of sending the credit repository information to the service provider:
service request
FinConnect integrations settings
The following are the precedence scenarios to get the credit repository information:
When the credit Soft pull or Hard pull request does not have the credit repository information, FinConnect fetches the credit repository information from the integration setting, updates the payload and submits the request to the service provider.
When the credit Soft pull or Hard pull request has the credit repository information, FinConnect does not override the details in the request with the integration settings. FinConnect processes the details in the request and submits the same to the service provider.
When the request has partial credit repository information, FinConnect considers only the details in the request and submits the same to the service provider.
