Disaster Recovery (DR)

A disaster can be anything that puts an organization's operations at risk, from a cyber-attack to equipment failures to natural disasters. DR is an area of security planning that aims to protect an organization from the effects of significant negative events.

Disaster Recovery Environment Setup

• FinConnect has primary production site at US East 1 Region (North Virginia) and the DR site is at US West 2 Region (Oregon.)

• Postgres RDS instance cluster spans across multiple zones to ensure high availability.

• Releases are promoted to the primary site and then to the DR site during the same release.

• FinConnect offers Postgres RDS inter-region replication (read replica) for DR.

• In the event of a disaster at the primary AWS data center, FinConnect support team switches all the traffic to the secondary site and verifies that the following objectives are fulfilled:

• Recovery Time objective - 15 mins
• Recovery Point objective - 5 mins
• Maximum Tolerable Outage - 15 mins
• Once the DR site is converted to the primary site, new database and application are brought up on the third site for backup.
